As our guests boarded the coaches, prepared for their meticulously planned day, nature had other plans. The heavens opened, flooding the roads and causing one of the coaches to be diverted onto a side road in a lesser-known area for the best part of three hours!
Immediate Action Required
With 42 passengers on board and no immediate solution, our staff member faced a daunting challenge. This is where the true value of a DMC shines. Nikki, our experienced and resourceful staff member, swiftly sprang into action. She needed to think outside the box and address the chorus of complaints: hunger, thirst, and the need for a restroom.
Finding Refuge and Hospitality
Navigating uncharted territory, Nikki led the group on foot, determined to find respite amidst the chaos. They found refuge in the epitome of Greek warmth and hospitality at Green Panic, a local fruit and vegetable market. The owners welcomed everyone with open arms, offering fresh fruit, nuts, and water to our guests.
Adding Cultural Insight
Nikki seized the opportunity to share a cultural tidbit with the guests, explaining that in ancient times, heavy rain was believed to signify Zeus having a “tantrum.” ⚡️ This whimsical insight into Greek mythology added an extra layer of enjoyment to the unexpected adventure. To further immerse the guests in the Greek experience, our unflummoxed Project Manager taught the group the Greek Zorba, a lively dance that encapsulates the spirit of Greek celebration.
